A little bit about me…

I’m SLee—an NYC-based actress, singer, and creator with Southern roots and a love for stories that are bold, funny, heartfelt, and a little bit weird.

Born Savannah-Lee Mumford and raised in the small town of Mount Airy, North Carolina (yes, the inspiration for Mayberry), I earned my BFA in Drama from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts and my MFA in Acting from Northern Illinois University.

You may know me from Golem Owned a Tropical Smoothie (The Tank/SoHo Playhouse, coming in 2027), Vape! The Grease Parody Musical (Theatre 555), or as Barb Holland in Stranger Sings!: The Parody Musical at Playhouse 46—a role that earned me BroadwayWorld's Best Performance in an Off-Broadway Musical (2022). You can also catch Stranger Sings! streaming on BroadwayHD or listen to the original cast recording wherever you stream music.

I also had the joy of helping revive the cult Off-Broadway hit Sex Tips for Straight Women from a Gay Man at AMT Theater alongside comedian Tim Murray, working directly with creator Matt Murphy and producers Michael & Tom D'Angora. In 2024, I attended SXSW for the world premiere of Adrianne & the Castle (Intuitive Pictures), where I had the honor of portraying the film's titular Adrianne St. George. The film is now streaming on Amazon and Apple TV.

Whether I'm originating a role, diving into a workshop, or collaborating on a brand-new musical, developing new work is one of my favorite parts of this industry. I'm also passionate about creating my own projects, including my original cabaret, I Have an Audition, which premiered at the newly reopened Laurie Beechman Theatre inside the iconic West Bank Cafe.

When I'm not performing, you'll probably find me tending to my ever-growing jungle of houseplants, rewatching a beloved sitcom for the twentieth time, blasting a Broadway cast recording, or catching the newest horror movie in theaters. I also love handmaking Christmas gifts for my family, and I'm perpetually campaigning for a puppy to enter my life.

If we ever cross paths, chances are we'll end up talking theater, plants, sitcoms... or all three.
